So, just who is Amy Pond?
I just got the DNA results back, and I’m not desperately surprised- she is about 1/3 Lab, 1/5 Pitty, 1/8 each “Supermutt” (which means they can’t be sure but means they think there’s a mix of Husky, GSD & Golden somewhere in there) and Boxer, and then about 1/10 each Rottweiler & Chow Chow. See below for the full results.
The Lab makes a lot of sense (she is in the water as soon as she sees it), and Jackie predicted the Pitty based on her coat.
She’s 100% a good girl (mostly)! And now I can do a deeper dive on each of those breeds to see what their characteristics may help us learn about her … π
Amy Pond (2)

After the unfortunate mismatch we had with Tessa last month, I have waited a week or so to post something, but this time we have a match, so meet the new Amy Pond π

We adopted her last Saturday from Pet Rescue in Harrison and, though it has taken her a little while to come out of her shell, she is starting fit into our family very nicely. She is an 18 month old Lab mix (though mixed with what we don’t know- but should in a couple of weeks when we get the DNA test back) from a shelter in Georgia (as was Faith). The shelter called her Allie, but we’ve decided to go with Amy Pond again- for Doctor Who reasons π

Her and Faith are starting to become friends, they walk very nicely together on the leash and have been hanging out at home and in the woods (she’s on a long leash for now, but she’s learning) …

… and playing together (we’ve been able to use the back yard at the Rectory) …
… where Faith really seems to enjoy a good game of chase π
And she has become fast friends with Walter, who has amazingly just accepted her immediately.

She’s a very gentle soul and is still timid around new people (and us a bit), but she’s gradually gaining confidence and we’re letting her set the pace.

Who is that old man?

A simply gorgeous morning …
It’s that time of year again …
Well hello
Chipmunk!
Farewell Amy Pond
Well, it was short and sweet, but sadly we have had to return Amy Pond back to the shelter- she can go back to being Tessa again.
It was a whole list of behavioral issues that did not reveal themselves at the shelter, mostly stemming from the fact that she was an unsocialized stray with major food issues, any one of which we could probably have dealt with on their own, but all stacked on top of each other it was just too much (especially for Faith and Walter).
We’re sad to see her go, but Amy/Tessa has had a few days of socialization, some good walks, has gone leaps and bounds ahead in her house-training, and the shelter now has new info for when they are placing her next time, so it could be called a minor win I suppose.
And we have learned a lot for when we try again, but probably not for a little while.
