Deep Snow!

Deep Snow!

Snowshoes on and here we are in the woods, we seem to be the first ones here so we’re breaking trail 🙂 The lot is still closed do we had to park illegally at the bottom 😉

It’s absolutely beautiful, but heavy going even with the snowshoes!

After another trek to the Rec in the even deeper snow with the dogs I came back to find that Walter needed his flap digging out. It has a little “porch” that I built to protect it from the weather, but that was no match for this blowing snow- here it is from inside and outside:

And here it is after 15 minutes with a shovel:

I doubt he will actually go out for a while (he has an inside litter box in this weather), but at least now he can if he really wants to 😉

Snow Day!

Snow Day!

While I would absolutely love to be able to go around Saxon Woods on my snowshoes, I think even with the Crosstrek it would be foolish to try and get there today 😉 So I took the girls for three circuits around the Rec and they had a fabulous time chasing each other through the snowdrifts:

They had so much fun I think we’ll do it again later 🙂

Snowy, icy woods

More fun with the new lens (TTArtisans 40mm f/2)- I’m blown away that a lens this good is so reasonable! Fast, reliable auto-focus, a useful focal length, metal construction, and a lovely, tactile aperture ring- what’s not to love 🙂

The images it takes are great right out of the camera, and take to being tweaked very nicely too- the icy conditions in the woods felt right for some black and whites 😉

Snow!

Snow!

Finally had the chance to break out the snowshoes this morning! It’s wonderful to be out here and be the first ones to put footprints in the unbroken snow 🙂
Boxing Day

Boxing Day

Very cold in the woods this morning, 18°, and there’s almost no one else here. We’re under a winter storm warning, so let’s see what tomorrow brings!
