Spent a happy morning setting up the Parish Hall so we can try it for a dry run tomorrow with the small holiday weekend crowd.
Including setting up a temporary “control room” for June and I on the balcony.
I’ve managed to get three of the cameras from the church working, so we should even be able to do a decent livestream π
Since getting our amazing OnlyCat flap, not only have we had the luxury of not being subjected to Walter bringing home his prey (he still tries, but usually only a couple of times a week now, I think he’s learning), but we also have the fun of knowing when he comes in and out as the app sends my phone a notification and a video each time. This one is particularly adorable as he gives the camera a quick sniff on his way past:
I knew he was mostly nocturnal (he spends most of the day asleep, either on our bed, the sofa, or the coffee table), but I had no idea he was so busy at night! For example, here is the traffic through the flap between noon yesterday and noon today:
3:32pm- out
3:37pm- in
6:49pm- out
7:04pm- in
7:14pm- out
7:17pm- in
7:36pm- out
7:39pm- in
7:45pm- out
8:16pm- in
8:26pm- out
8:40pm- in
8:50pm- out
9:43pm- in
9:51pm- out
10:07pm- in
10:21pm- out
10:33pm- in
11:08pm- out
1:11am- in
1:27am- out
2:10am- in
2:29am- out
3:45am-in (came and yelled and demanded to be petted and then slept on our bed for a bit)
5:01am- out
5:44am- in (back onto our bed until the alarm went off)
6:10am- out
6:15am- in
(then he went out the front door with the dogs when they went out to pee)
11:50am- in
And this was a night without a kill, no wonder he sleeps all day!
I took my full-spectrum converted A7ii to church at the Wainwright House and then on to the woods this morning, with the “super-color” 590nm filter on my favorite landscape lens, the Auto Takumar 35mm f/2.3. The sun was pretty bright at the sound …
… but that didn’t really stick around for the dog walk later …
I’m still learning what the best subjects are, as what can look like a great picture on the back of the camera doesn’t work in post-processing and vice-versa, so this is still a work in progress. But I’m having a blast π
