Eventful Confirmation

Eventful Confirmation

What started off as an already busy service got even more fun when the fire alarm went off during the announcements! Luckily it was a false alarm, but we had to clear 300+ people outside until RyeFD could check the building. Thank goodness we had already gotten through the confirmation part of the service, and Bishop Glasspool took it in her stride and celebrated Communion for everyone outside, the choir sang, and the sun shone!

Not quite the celebration we had planned- but none of these kids will forget their Confirmation 😉

You can see a full selection of pictures in a FB album here 🙂

So, of the images I took earlier, my eye keeps coming back to this one:

I think it’s the fact that the shallow depth of field has just caught the edges of the leaves in focus as well as most of the flower to the left center that makes it so striking for me.

I went back into Lightroom and played around with the image a little more, and this is what I came up with:

But now I’m torn between my original edit and this one.

Which do you like better?

Flora in the woods

Flora in the woods

As I have a day off today, I took my A7Riv with my 100mm Bellows-Takumar to the woods with me to see if I could capture some of the burgeoning flora…

The light was not fantastic, but I had not brought a flash so I had to make do with available light, but I’m actually quite happy with the results 🙂

And can I just say how awesome it is to have two dogs who I can totally trust not to disappear when I’m concentrating on setting up a shot and not paying attention to them? Though Holly does like to see what I’m doing and often blunders right through the shot 😉 They are the best!
