New ebay lens …

… a Japanese one this time- A Tamron 35-70mm f/3.5 that I picked up for $25 🙂

Officially known as the Model 17a, this was made from 1982-87, and from the knurling on the focus grip it seems mine is one of the later variants. It is a lovely little lens, which, as this review mentions, is an absolute joy to use! It is very easy to focus, is decently sharp wide open and razor sharp if you stop down just a little, and has a really nice macro mode that automatically zooms you in the the 70mm end as you turn down to it. I think this one is going to become a favorite…

It was a fairly grey and drab morning in the woods, so I went monochrome for some of these; and then I had some fun taking a long distance shot of the AA meeting that takes place at 8;30 every morning in a clearing where someone has added a Stars and Stripes.
