I have not taken nearly enough photographs lately (don’t know why, blame the pandemic or the election or whatever you like), so I decided it was time to reacquaint myself with some of my prime, mostly Russian, glass and see how it handles on my new, 61MP beast the A7Riv 🙂

So, even though the leaves are well past their prime I headed out this morning with my two trusty canine assistants on our usual morning walk…

First up was the gorgeous Helios 40-2, 85mm f/1.5. I’d forgotten how lovely this lens is for detail shots in the woods- it is mostly touted as a portrait lens- and the Sony mirrorless cameras make using a manual-focus lens such a joy, and having the ability to crop in and not lose detail is awesome 🙂
