It’s a whole new world!

It’s a whole new world!

So I finally got my hands on the new AV system in the church today- it’s not completely finished, but it’s together enough for us to use it to livestream our service this Sunday πŸ™‚

They started showing me how it worked at about 11 this morning, and the AV techs went home at 3, and I’ve been playing on my own since then (with a break for a couple of slices of pizza) and I’ve just come home now at just before 10 with my head spinning!

The sound system part is the most complicated for me- there’s no sound board! The whole mixer is in the rack and it’s all controlled with a computer and an iPad- crazy! As I said to Jackie, it’s like you were driving the car you’re used to and someone just handed you the keys to the space shuttle and said, “off you go” with a couple of hours training!

But thank God for the training the BBC gave me all those years ago (wow- my training course was in 1987- 33 years ago!), they obviously knew what they were doing coz after not too long it actually started to make sense πŸ™‚ And thankfully Evi came at about 8 to practice on the organ and then it really started to click! And the ability to sit actually in the pews with the iPad and wirelessly control the whole sound system is worth the price of admission and then some!!!

I have another few hours of training in the morning, and we’ll see if I can get my head fully around the video side of things then, but I am now confident I will be able to make it work on Sunday- which is a lot more than I thought I would be saying at about 3 this afternoon πŸ˜‰
