A lithophane is originally a piece of art etched on very thin porcelain that only shows when it’s backlit. But I just discovered that you can make them with a 3D printer 🙂 so I made one as an early Christmas present for Jackie…

It’s one of our favorite recent pictures of Crisp, taken in her lair (bedroom) and it’s my longest print yet- it took 16 hours and was printing overnight and was waiting for me when I got up this morning.

It doesn’t look like much when you just look at it, but put a light behind it (like a tea-light on the mantelpiece) and all the details come out 🙂
