Who am I?

Who am I?

Jackie got me one of those 23andme DNA tests for Father’s Day, and I duly spat in the little tube and sent it off, and today they emailed me to say the results are ready…

These are just the summaries, but basically what it means is that I am all European: 66.2% British but 13.3% French and German, with a sprinkling of of Scandinavian and just a pinch of Askenazi Jewish- Oy vey! finally I can use Yiddish without feeling like a douche! 😉

What the second graphic says is that while I have at least one parent and/or grandparent who is/was 100% British born around 1900-1930 (My Mum was born in 1934, my Dad in 1935), I also very likely have a grandparent, great-grandparent or great-great-grandparent born between 1840 and 1900 who was 100% French and/or German. Then going further back I most likely had an ancestor who was 100% Scandinavian born between 1720 and 1810, and another born between 1690 and 1780 who was 100% Ashkenazi Jewish.

Fascinating stuff- I can’t wait to call Mum and Dad and share this with them 🙂
