Late Summer in the Woods

Late Summer in the Woods

As Wednesday is now my day off (after 23 years of having Fridays off it’s going to take a little adjustment!) I took my camera to the woods when I went to walk Holly. The regular wisdom is that you shouldn’t take pictures in middle of the day in strong sunshine, but I’ve always liked the dappled light in the woods, the backlit leaves and the way beams of sunshine can highlight a small subject and make it stand out. I was fooling around with a couple of techniques: HDR, which I’ve done before; and long exposure using filters. I have some cheap ND filters, and I really want to get some better ones, but the good ones ain’t cheap so I wanted to see what I thought of the technique before I spend the money… I was hoping for more water in the stream after yesterdays rain so I could show what you can do, but that’s another reason why I can’t wait for the fall weather 🙂

Anyhow- the pictures are in the public gallery here, or click on the pic above.
