Ball Mountain Hike

We set off this morning to take the gondola up to the top of Stratton and hike down (well, not all of us- Jake and Grandma planned to take the gondola in both directions), but as it turns out, it only runs on weekends (which is not at all clear on their website!). So instead Grandpa, Crisp, Holly and I were dropped off on the West River Trail to climb Ball Mountain Dam and then hike down the length of Jamaica State Park to be picked up at the entrance. We had a lovely 2 hour hike, which included awesome views of the river and the slightly gruesome spectacle of watching a snake Holly spotted eating a toad!
