Boiler and floor… continued…

The new steam boiler is installed and wired up. It has been test fired, and apart from a leak where they just have to replace a faulty union, is working fine. I will need to get the burner serviced and tuned before the heating season, but we will have heat in the church and parish hall this winter 🙂

The work in the parish hall is also going well, though a little slower. They have been carefully leveling the floor by sistering new beams at the right level against the old ones where they are too low (in the picture above you can see the new beams are the much lighter wood). It is painstaking work, but I’m glad they are taking their time to do it right.
Once they are finished they will glue and screw the new 3/4″ plywood subfloor to the beams and we should have a good, solid, level base with no squeaks or dips for the beautiful new white oak floor 🙂
