Dog treats

Holly gets a small treat each time she goes out and does her business, but I got fed up with buying expensive dog treats from the pet store without really knowing what’s in them and where they come from (there was a whole storm of controversy on the interweb about Chinese chicken jerky for dogs being deadly) so I decided to take matters into my own hands- a quick trip to the supermarket and $3.44 got me 2lbs of beef heart which I have just finished cooking, slicing and packing into individual bags to freeze. I can defrost a little bag as I need it and I figure this little lot should last her a couple of weeks. And it’s incredibly lean meat so it should be much better for her (especially without all the additives and sugar they add to commercial treats) – and if her drooling while I was slicing it up is anything to go by, she’s going to enjoy it more too 🙂
